Amy Mulvihill, Language Arts & Humanities
Welcome to 6th grade! I am a new teacher to Seven Peaks School this year and I am excited about getting to know our students and families. I was able to meet the returning students last April and I am looking forward to seeing you again. Language Arts and Humanities will feature a variety of learning activities such as reading and watching current events, group projects and short research papers. We will work on becoming stronger readers and writers using the workshop model with topics such as debatable issues and personal narratives. In Humanities we will look to understand how the events from the Enlightenment and French Revolution changed the lives of those in the past and how they still have significance on our lives today. Humanities is not just about history- it is also about the interactions between people of similar and different cultures and the geography that shaped those cultures. It is important to understand how events in the past and present affect us as citizens in our ever-changing world. I believe that you will come away from this class a more enlightened and critical thinker. Let’s have a great school year!
