It is with much excitement and anticipation that I WELCOME you and your family to third grade!
Parents, I would love for you to drop your children at SPS on Thursday, 9/1 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm to spend time getting to know me and fellow students. Also, for all new families to SPS, join your buddy parents, SPS Staff and Board Members at an “adult evening social” on Thursday, 9/1 from 6:30 – 8:00pm in the SPS Commons. Mark your calendar for our Elementary Back-to-School Night on Thursday, 9/15. There will be a parent social from 5:00-5:30 followed by elementary sessions from 5:30-6:00 and 6:00-6:30. The large group meeting will be held in the gym from 6:30-7:15 pm. Childcare is available.
I realize there are still two more weeks of summer, but as I plan learning outcomes for the upcoming year, it is very important for me to reflect on each child so that I can ensure a successful year for him/her. In an effort to get to know your child better, I have a special “homework” assignment for parents (I’m sure your children will enjoy hearing that I’ve already given you homework!). I would love for you to write me a letter telling me everything you would like me to know about your child. What are their passions? How do they learn best? Any social concerns? Health issues? What are your hopes for them this year? Tell me anything you feel comfortable putting on paper (or via email). I look forward to reading your letters and getting to know your child better. You are welcome to bring your letter to me on the first day of school or send it to me via email.
This is going to be a great year filled with lots of learning, hard work, and…fun! If you have any additional questions or concerns before the first day of school, please feel free to contact me via email.
