Teaching & Learning
Students are empowered when they get to ask questions important to them, use creativity and action to address these questions, and then reflect on the success and relevance of their process. Inquiry based learning ignites passion, inspires learning, and develops student ownership. Students are active thinkers rather than passive learners which leads to action as they question things and investigate their curiosities. The action piece may be a physical project, such as planting a garden for a non-profit in the community, or it may be advocating for basic needs or basic rights, or it may be educating others about the dangers of drug use. The ability to choose relevant ideas and issues to pursue and then to engage in a process of critical and creative thinking which results in a meaningful experience is engaged teaching and learning.
