What a FABULOUS start to the year!! Our first week was filled with team-building activities, classroom expectations and fixed vs. growth mindset art.
Making mistakes and persevering through challenges and frustration are embraced and encouraged in our classroom! We are constantly learning and growing our brains, which is a muscle and can get stronger! Our learning within the classroom will consistently stem from a growth mindset point-of-view. If you aren’t familiar with Stanford researcher Carol Dweck and her research behind fixed vs. growth mindset, check out a great Ted Ed talk HERE .
Students chose two of their favorite Growth Mindset quotes and decorated them on large paper. These are now hanging in our classroom as a reminder to persevere, try hard things, and embrace mistakes!
Art with Mrs. Santucci
I am excited to be back at Seven Peaks for my fourth year. I love teaching and learning from your children, and am glad to be back working with your little artists. We begin the school year learning Color Theory. For 2nd grade, this means we that the students are learning about tints and shades in conjunction with how to create secondary and tertiary colors. There is a lot of paint involved, but most of it is washable. I hope to send them home paint free, but even the paint shirts don’t keep everything out when they are in the throes of creativity. I will be needing volunteers on a regular basis or for special projects. Please let me know if you can help in any way by shooting me an email at email@example.com . I am looking forward to meeting you all at the open house this week and please know, you are always welcome in our classroom!
Mrs. Landolt, Physical Education
Hello! My name is Melissa Landolt and I am your child’s physical education teacher. This is my 7th year at Seven Peaks and my 10th year teaching PE. I am a Central Oregon native who grew up in Madras. I have lived in Bend for 15 years with my husband. I enjoy watching and playing all types of sports. During the summer I love to travel and hang out at our beautiful lakes. This year my classes are going to learn and practice many skills. They will be encouraged to be physically active, develop cooperation and teamwork, increase personal fitness and motor development, and participate in many fun games and activities. Please encourage your child to wear tennis shoes on the days they have PE. I am looking forward to a fun and active year!
