Gearing up for high school!
High school is right around the corner for our current 8th grade students. Seven Peaks former school counselor, Andie Desha, will be hosting informative meetings for parents of 8th grade students to discuss preparation for high school. The meetings will take place on January 19, from 8:15 – 9:30 am and from 6:00 – 7:15 pm in the 7th/8th Grade Humanities Classroom.
During this meeting, information will be provided regarding the academics, culture and expectations at the local high schools. Additionally, she will answer questions regarding high school forecasting and provide a forum for discussing what to expect in the months ahead as 8th grade students get ready for high school. There will also be applications available for area changes, if your 8th grader is considering attending a school outside their neighborhood boundaries.
Each year the high schools offer optional Orientation Nights for incoming freshmen on different dates so parents and students have the opportunity to hear about each school’s offerings. Most of these events are set in February, before area change requests are due and before students forecast for classes.
