I hope you have all been enjoying this beautiful summer in beautiful Bend, Oregon! As the summer comes to a close, I am looking forward to beginning the upcoming school year with you! Although I have met many of you, I would like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Kristen Brannan and this will be my 12th year at Seven Peaks and my 9th year teaching. Prior to teaching Jr.Kindergarten, I taught first grade for 7 years and prior to that I was an educational assistant for 2½ years, as well as a long-term 1st grade sub at Seven Peaks. I moved to Bend 11 years ago with my husband. We have two children that also attend Seven Peaks, Olivia (age 10 and entering 5th grade) and Owen (age 6½ and entering 1st grade). We love the Bend community and especially Seven Peaks! I am very excited to start this journey with you and your children and I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
Thursday, 9/1 from 3:00 – 4:00 we will be having an informal drop in where families can come by to take a look at the classroom and meet their teachers. I look forward to seeing you all there! Also, for all new families to SPS, join your buddy parents, SPS Staff and Board Members at an “adult evening social” on Thursday, 9/1 from 6:30 – 8:00pm in the SPS Commons. Mark your calendar for our Elementary Back-to-School Night on Thursday, 9/15. There will be a parent social from 5:00-5:30 followed by elementary sessions from 5:30-6:00 and 6:00-6:30. The large group meeting will be held in the gym from 6:30-7:15 pm. Childcare is available.
To give the kids a chance to adjust to their new school, PK students will have a staggered start and attend the first two days in groups of 7 or 8, from 8:05 until 3:05 (Wednesday and Thursday). Friday will be our first day as a whole class and school hours Friday are 8:15 – 1:30. I have assigned your child a day below. Please let me know as soon as possible if this day does not work for you, as I will have to move other students to accommodate any changes. Friday, September 9th will be our first day as a whole class! School hours on Fridays are 8:15 – 1:30.

Information for the first week of school…
** School begins at 8:15 and releases at 3:05, Mon-Thurs and 8:15-1:30 on Fridays. Please plan to drop off and pick up your child at the Prekindergarten classroom.
** Prekindergarten students do have the opportunity to get hot lunch, however this will not be offered until the second week of school so they will need to bring a cold lunch on their scheduled day above.
On your child’s First Day, please have them bring:
- A lunch (with easy to open containers and foods!). Please refrain from packing anything that needs to be heated as we aren’t able to warm up lunches in PK. IMPORTANT ALLERGY NOTE: We have a student with a severe nut allergy so please try to refrain from packing anything with nuts/peanuts. Thank you so much for your help and support with this.
- A Ziploc bag with a change of clothes to be left in their school cubby. Please include underwear and socks and make sure your Ziploc bag is labeled with your child’s name.
- One “Rest Time” item, if desired (small blanket, pillow, etc). These will also be stored in your child’s cubby in our outside hallway.
** Note: Please make sure all backpacks, lunch boxes, sweatshirts and jackets with your child’s name as they can tend to get misplaced.
I am looking forward to seeing you and your child on their first day of school and I look forward to working together to make this year a year full of learning and fun! I know that your children are very important to you and they are to me! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I tend to respond quickest to emails rather than phone messages.
Thank you so much and looking forward to a great PK year together!
