Kindergarteners partnered up with their third grade buddies for a fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) challenge. The challenge was, Who could build the tallest tower out of a simple materials list of two items? Materials included balloons and tape, marshmallows and spaghetti, index cards and tape, foil and straws. They planned, worked together, redesigned, struggled and finally measured their structures.

The leaves are falling and in art class, Kindergarten is learning all about the elements of art through creating a variety of fall-themed art pieces. In learning about color, your budding artist was introduced to Henri Matisse and created Apples on a Yellow Plate. To learn about line, they created bird line drawings. Wait until you see how adorable they are! To learn about texture, they created painted paper and collaged a colorful fall tree. Using shapes, we read the story of Pezzetino by Leo Lionni, and they created their own creatures and thought about how we are all unique and made up of many pieces that create the whole of who we are. There is no end to fun as we learn how to use paints, texture tools, pastels and sharpies, among other things, explore art mediums and creating something new each day.
