Our IB MYP model can best be described with an illustration of a circle with multiple layers. The student is at the center of our program model. Around the student, in our first layer, we focus on two key areas: approaches to learning and approaches to teaching. Approaches to learning refers to demonstrating a commitment to developing skills for learning as a key component. Approaches to teaching is the collaborative and inquiry based teaching practices that guide our instruction. The second layer describes the important outcomes that we focus on: inquiry based learning and the community project. The third layer describes our broad and balanced curriculum. We organize our teaching and learning through eight subject groups: language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design. The greatest distinction of our program model is the interdisciplinary nature of connecting subjects through global contexts and key concepts.
