In Prekindergarten, we have been having so much fun learning all about fall, farms and pumpkins! Last week we learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin and the kids thought it was really neat that a pumpkin starts out green and then turns orange when it is ready to be picked! This week we look forward to learning more about farms and pumpkins first hand as we take our 2nd field trip to Smith Rock Ranch. Field trips are such a fantastic way for our little ones to inquire and wonder about the world around them. It is also a great way to bring our classroom learning to life!
One of the ways we build community between different grade levels is by meeting weekly with our 3rd grade buddy class. During this time each week, we spend time with our buddies focused around sharing a piece of work that we are especially proud of, celebrating the monthly core virtue or reading a book together where we can practice the weekly reading strategy we are learning. During this time students learn the skills of collaboration, develop wider and richer relationships, and experience the many satisfactions of contributing to the welfare of others.
